Hong Kong Mile (HK-G1) runner FIREBREAK (Charnwood Forest [Ire]) performed a
three-quarters speed turf gallop on Friday, leading stablemates SIGHTS ON GOLD
(Indian Ridge) and ANCIENT WORLD (Spinning World).
“That went well,” traveling head lad Sam Avis said of the trio. “It was just
a little pipe opener. We will find out if they are good enough on Sunday.”
Sights on Gold is scheduled to go in the Hong Kong Vase (HK-G1) while Ancient
World is preparing for the Hong Kong Cup (HK-G1).
MARTILLO (Anabaa) galloped 400 meters on the dirt in :23.6, while fellow
German hope EAGLE RISE (Danehill) went in a more sedate :26.5.
Leading Hong Kong Mile contender DURANDAL (Sunday Silence) had an easy time
of things Friday morning, as did TELEGNOSIS (Tony Bin), the other Mile hope from
Japan.
Three of the seven-strong local contingent for the Mile breezed on the sand
— ORIENTAL MAGIC (Desert Prince [Ire]), SCINTILLATION (Danehill) and FIGURES (Maroof)
— and no problems were reported.
