Overall, there are 100 Grade 1 races, representing 21.4 percent; 159 Grade 2
One race was upgraded to Grade 1 status for 2005: the Frank E. Kilroe Mile H.
One race was downgraded from Grade 1 to Grade 2: the Milady Breeders’ Cup H.
Six races were upgraded to Grade 2 status for 2005: the Comely S. at

Memorial H. at Hollywood Park; Madison S. and Perryville S. at Keeneland;
Rebel S. at Oaklawn Park; Hirsch Jacobs S. at Pimlico; and Providencia S. at
Santa Anita.
Twenty races were downgraded from Grade 3 to ungraded status: the
Affectionately H., Fall Highweight H. and Ladies H. at Aqueduct; Arlington
Breeders’ Cup Oaks at Arlington Park; Lawrence Realization S. and Pebbles S. at
Belmont Park; Chaposa Springs H. at Calder Race Course; Derby Trial S. at
Churchill Downs; Brown Bess H. and Golden Gate Derby at Golden Gate Fields;
Canadian Turf H. and Spectacular Bid S. at Gulfstream Park; Landaluce S. at
Hollywood Park; Anne Arundel S. at Laurel Park; Jersey Derby at Monmouth Park;
Donald Levine Memorial H. at Philadelphia Park; Martha Washington Breeders’ Cup
S. at Pimlico; Oklahoma Derby at Remington Park; Cradle S.
at River Downs; and San Miguel S. at Santa Anita. The De La Rose H. and Ft.
Lauderdale H. at Gulfstream Park and the New Hampshire Sweepstakes H. at
Rockingham Park were not eligible for grading in 2005.
