Sunday’s Santa Ysabel S. (G3) marks the three-year-old debut of Breeders’ Cup
Juvenile Fillies (G1) victress SWEET CATOMINE (Storm Cat), who is likely to be
named champion two-year-old filly after a remarkable 2004 campaign. The 1
1/16-mile dirt affair has drawn just five other entrants, one of which will run
coupled with the Del Mar Debutante S. (G1) heroine, and we can’t go against such
a classy filly. Trained by Julio Canani, Sweet Catomine will have David Flores
in the irons and is undoubtedly the one to beat, owning both the only
triple-digit BRIS Speed figures and graded stakes experience in the field.

PUSSYCAT DOLL (Real Quiet) rates our next selection after a brilliant
performance last out to break her maiden in her third try, recording a Speed
rating of 90 with jockey Rene Douglas sitting chilly as the bay accelerated
through the lane to open up by three lengths on her rivals. The Bob
Baffert-trained miss owns some impressive works, including a :59 1/5
five-furlong bullet on Wednesday morning, and appears the most capable of
upsetting the likely heavy favorite. Douglas, who recently recorded his 3,000th
win, returns to the saddle.

Running coupled with Sweet Catomine, REVEALED (Old Trieste), who is
cross-entered in the Santa Ynez (G2) on Monday, was a sharp winner in her debut
when taking a 6 1/2-furlong maiden race by a measured length, recording a Speed
rating of 93. Revealed will be piloted by Jon Court and although the chestnut
has not raced at a route, her sire was a multiple Grade 2 winner at nine
furlongs and we think his daughter can handle the distance. Conditioner John
Shirreffs, who wins at a 21 percent clip with first-time route runners, will
saddle the sophomore, and we can’t leave her out of the exotics.

With stakes experience under her girth, ISLAND ESCAPE (Petionville) has an
advantage over some of her rivals in this contest. Just a nose back last out in
the Corte Madera S., the bay narrowly defeated another of her Santa Ysabel
rivals, ON LONDON TIME (Gilded Time), in that one. Both fillies will stretch out
a sixteenth of a mile here and we will use them in the bottom of the gimmicks.

Tim Yakteen sends out ANDREA’S WISH (Cape Town), who makes her stakes bow in
this one. We’ll give the bay a race at this level as she appears ambitiously
placed.
