Last updated: 2/20/05 7:34 PM

Overbrook Farm’s homebred CAPE HOPE (Cape Town) moved three-wide turning for
home and flew past her rivals en route to a two length score in the $60,000
Gaily Gaily S. over the Gulfstream sod on Sunday. Rating in midpack behind
honest fractions of :22 4/5, :46 2/5 and 1:09 3/5 for the initial six furlongs,
Jerry Bailey began to move his mount into striking range approaching the
stretch, and the filly did the rest from there, completing the 1 1/16 miles in
1:39 1/5 for trainer Dallas Stewart. Sent off at odds of 3-1, the winner paid
$8, $5 and $3.20 while topping the $17.80 exacta ($1) and $40.50 trifecta ($1).

Dynamite Lass (Dynaformer) took a short lead in early stretch but had no
answer for the top one, ultimately settling for the place 1 3/4 lengths clear of
third. The 7-2 shot gave back $4.60 and $2.80. Paddy’s Daisy (King of Kings
[Ire]), the 8-5 choice, was prominent throughout but could not match the top
pair late, paying $2.60 for the show.

Dansetta Light (Colony Light) was next and trailed by Kathern’s Cat (Catienus),
Royal Bean (Royal Academy), Winsome (War Chant), Aunt Dot Dot (Gulch) and
Kristen Kristen (Storm Boot) while Dance Away Capote (Capote) was withdrawn.

Cape Hope now stands perfect from three turf starts, moving her lifetime mark
to 5-3-0-1 with earnings of $75,690. This was the bay’s stakes debut.

Bred in the Bluegrass State, the winner was produced from the stakes-placed
Corporate Debut (Corporate Report), and has an unnamed two-year-old half-sister
by Carson City.
