The mutuel field remained a strong favorite in Pool 1 of the Kentucky Derby
Future Wager at 2-1 after Saturday’s third-day session. A total of $76,510 has
been wagered on the “all other three-year-olds” interest with one day remaining
in the first pool.
Churchill Downs announced Saturday that the closing time for Pool 1 has been
extended on Sunday to 6:45 p.m. (EST) from the originally scheduled 6 p.m.
deadline. The change was made to accommodate fans who want to watch the San
Vicente S. (G2) at 6:07 and factor the outcome into possible future wagers. The
closing time for the first Kentucky Oaks Future Wager has also been moved back
to 6:45.
Two-year-old champion DECLAN’S MOON (Malibu Moon), who is set to make his
seasonal bow in the March 5 Santa Catalina S. (G2) at Santa Anita, is the top
individual betting interest currently at 11-1. HARLINGTON (Unbridled), who
finished sixth in Saturday’s Risen Star S. (G3), is a slight second choice among
a trio of individual horses at 15-1, with slightly more wagered upon him than
Afleet Alex (Northern Afleet), who in turn edges Rockport Harbor (Unbridled’s
Song). ROMAN RULER (Fusaichi Pegasus) comes next at 16-1.
The total pool through Saturday is $273,655.
