The $100,000 Ocala Breeders’ Championship S. highlighted a six-race card at
the Ocala Training Center on Monday during the 16th annual OBS Day of Champions.
Puglisi Stables’ MIGHTY MECKE (Mecke) took the feature race for three-year-old
colts and geldings as he closed in the 1 1/16-mile event to win by a neck in
1:44 2/5 on a fast track. The Steve Klesaris trainee is undefeated in two
starts, both under Cornelio Velasquez.

Pandora PA Farm’s NEVERLACKEN (Smoke Glacken) captured her first stakes score
when she won the $97,000 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Championship S. for
three-year-old fillies. Jockey Shaun Bridgmohan kept the
gray lass just off the pace of the 1 1/16-mile competition until the
duo reached the quarter-pole, where Neverlacken grabbed the advantage and
proceeded to draw off by 2 3/4 lengths, stopping the timer in 1:45 4/5 for
conditioner Richard Violette Jr.

The day began with the $50,000 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Sprint S. as Tanourin
Stable’s BABAGANUSH (Capture the Gold) took over the lead entering the turn of
the six-furlong event and continued on to a one-length victory, completing the
race in 1:11 4/5. In the $50,000 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Sprint S., Micki
Bracken’s GOWER (Mecke) produced a similar run to score, stalking the
pace until the turn and eventually coming home 1 3/4-lengths
ahead of his nearest competitor in 1:10.

P.J. Wilcoxson’s BOG HUNTER (Hunting
Hard) got up to nip Above the Wind (Island Whirl) at the wire in the $40,000 Florida Thoroughbred Charities S.,
completing the five-furlong affair in :57 2/5. William Janulis’ STORMIN’ DAINA
(Storm Creek) stalked near the back of the pack of the $40,000 Florida Breeders’
Distaff S. before rallying down the middle of the track to win by 1 1/2 lengths,
turning 8 1/2 furlongs in 1:47 1/5.
