KELA (Numerous) has been assigned the co-highweight of 118 pounds for Sunday’s
$200,000 Potrero Grande Breeders’ Cup H. (G2) at Santa Anita. The
seven-year-old, third in his 2005 bow in the Deputy Minister H. (G3), appears
tough to beat as he finished second in the six-furlong Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1)
last year and should not mind the extra sixteenth of a mile here, having won at
both six and seven furlongs. Tyler Baze gets the mount aboard the Mike Mitchell
trainee.
Also carrying 118 pounds will be SAINT AFLEET (Northern Afleet). Pat
Valenzuela will guide the Jeff Mullins-trained four-year-old, who enters off a
winning effort in the Palos Verdes H. (G2) in his seasonal debut. That contest
was run at six furlongs, and Saint Afleet should not mind the added ground here,
either.
The Potrero Grande field, with riders and imposts, is ONEBADSHARK (Diligence), Chance Rollins, 114; ICE WYNND FIRE (Northern Afleet),
Alex Solis, 115; PERFECT MOON (Malibu Moon), Corey Nakatani, 116; Kela; JUNGLE
PRINCE (Sir Cat), Jon Court, 114; HARVARD AVENUE (You and I), Garrett Gomez,
115; ROI CHARMANT (Evansville Slew), Victor Espinoza, 113; Saint Afleet; HASTY
KRIS (Kissin Kris), Rene Douglas, 117; RUSHIN’ TO ALTAR (Pulpit), Gary Stevens,
115.
