MISS TERRIBLE (Arg) (Numerous) returns on Monday in the second of two Grade
1s at Hollywood Park, the Gamely Breeders’ Cup H. going 1 1/8 miles on the turf.
Trained by Bradley Ross, the bay mare has won both of her starts this year —
the Las Flores H. (G3) and Distaff Turf Mile S. (G3) — and recorded
triple-digit BRIS Speed ratings for her victories. After going through two
trainers in 2003, the dual Argentinean champion took last year off and could
continue her winning ways here. Mike Smith takes over for Alex Solis.

NADESZHDA (GB) (Nashwan) ran a great race last out in the Santa Barbara H. (G2) at
Santa Anita, but ran into a monster named Megahertz (GB) (Pivotal), who came
with her patented late run to take the 1 1/4-mile event by three parts of a
length. Nadeszhda had the lead before being run down and earned a nice 101 Speed
figure and 107 BRIS E2 Pace rating. The Neil Drysdale-trained five-year-old has
only one start under her girth going nine furlongs, but that came against the
boys in an allowance and she finished a good third that time. She looks ready
for another top performance in here and will have Julio Garcia back in the
saddle.

MEA DOMINA (Dance Brightly) could offer some value in the exotics. The Ron
McAnally charge is four for five on the green, but will be stretching out to
nine furlongs for the first time in her career. Her past four turf tests all
came at a mile, but the bay four-year-old did break her maiden going 8 1/2
furlongs last August. She ran a close fourth in the Wilshire H. (G3) last out,
and will be challenging for the win under Tyler Baze.

AMORAMA (Sri Pekan) captured last year’s Del Mar Oaks (G1), but didn’t show
much in her final two starts as a sophomore. Returning in February on the dirt,
the Julio Canani trainee just missed third by a nose in the La Canada S. (G2),
then took a slight break before coming back to run a close third in the Wilshire
last out. Amorama is winless in five starts at Hollywood, but has placed over
the course and could show enough improvement to threaten in the top three. Rene
Douglas has the call.

SOLAR ECHO (Spinning World) has yet to finish worse than second from seven
career starts. She broke her maiden on the dirt, winning by eight lengths, then
captured two optional claimers, one on the dirt and the other on the turf, by
easy margins. The gray mare hasn’t visited the winner’s circle since, but has
always been close, just missing by a nose last out in the Tuzla S. Also trained
by McAnally, she’ll run coupled with Mea Domina and should be considered for all
exotics. URAIB (Ire) (Mark of Esteem) was a slight surprise when winning the
Buena Vista H. (G3), which was moved from the turf to the sloppy dirt, but was a
distant ninth in the Santa Margarita Invitational H. (G1) on the main track two
back. Returning to her preferred grass last out, the five-year-old mare finished
a much better fourth in the Santa Barbara and could continue to improve enough
to grab part.

FLIP FLOP (Fr) (Zieten) captured her U.S. debut last out by a head, earning a
nice 97 Speed rating, but might find this competition too much at this time.
We’ll let her beat us. HALO OLA (Arg) (Southern Halo) will be making her first
start stateside in this spot and returns off a more than three-month layoff.
We’ll watch for now. ISLAND FASHION (Petionville) hasn’t done well in three
starts on the turf and hasn’t been going that well on the dirt of late. We can’t
recommend.
