Breaking from the outside post in Friday’s $150,000
Honorable Miss H. (G2) at
Saratoga, Stonestreet Stables’ FOREST MUSIC (Unbridled’s Song) took the lead out
of the gate and was never headed as she set quick splits of :21 4/5, :44 2/5 and
:56 2/5 under John Velazquez. Leading by six lengths at one point, the Steve
Asmussen-trained four-year-old had her margin cut down to two lengths by the
time she crossed under the wire, more than enough to proclaim victory in the
six-furlong fast-track test.
Sent off at nearly 4-1, Forest Music stopped the clock in 1:10 while paying
out $9.80, $5 and $3.10. Ebony Breeze (Belong to Me) put in a good run at the
end, but ran out of room and finished second at 5-2, returning $4.10 and $2.50
while finishing the $39.20 exacta. Bank Audit (Wild Rush) was another 4 1/2
lengths back in third and was worth $2.40. The trifecta gave back $94 and Molto
Vita (Carson City) ended the $303.50 superfecta (8-4-2-1).
Umpateedle (Suave Prospect) came next and was followed by Fortress Hill
(Forest Wildcat), Storm Minstrel (Storm Cat) and High Peaks (Peaks and Valleys)
Forest Music earned her second win of the year with this one, having already
scored in the Primonetta S. at Laurel Park. Her other stakes victories all came
last year in the Miss Preakness S. (G3), Seton Hall University S. and Crank It
Up S. The gray miss also owns five black-type placings, including the Genuine
Risk H. (G2) prior to this one and last year’s Prioress S. (G1) and Test S.
(G1). She improved her career mark to 16-6-1-5 and has now accumulated $359,066
in lifetime earnings.
Bred in Kentucky by Twin Hopes Farm Inc., Forest Music is out of the
stakes-winning Gone West mare Defer West, making her a half-sister to Grade 3
victress Shooter (Dehere) and a full sibling to a 2005 colt named Song of the
West. She brought $325,000 as a Fasig-Tipton February two-year-old.
