Several New York-based juveniles are under consideration for Saturday’s
$150,000 Sapling S. (G3) at Monmouth Park. Racing officials said trainer Steve
Asmussen will likely run DOC O DYNAMITE (Successful Appeal) rather than
undefeated Tyro S. winner HE’S GOT GRIT (Songandaprayer) in the six-furlong
event. Doc O Dynamite was an impressive maiden winner in his first career start
at Saratoga on August 3.
Trainer Steve Klesaris will likely saddle either DIABOLICAL (Artax) or MASTER
OF DISASTER (Dance Master) in the Sapling. Diabolical, a $300,000 two-year-old
purchase, broke his maiden by 9 3/4 lengths in his debut at Belmont Park on July
7. Master of Disaster, a $600,000 juvenile purchase, finished second to Henny
Hughes (Hennessy) in the Saratoga Special S. (G2) on July 28.
BALLADO DANCER (Outflanker) broke his maiden by 2 1/4 lengths in his second
career start at Woodbine on July 24. The Mark Casse trainee arrived at the New
Jersey seaside track on Tuesday evening. Stewart Elliott has the call.
Other expected starters include Tyro runner-up CONFRONT (Line In The Sand),
THE VILLAGE VICAR (Vicar) and BROADWAY RIDGE (Quaker Ridge).
