PREACHINATTHEBAR (Silver Charm), MUSIQUE TOUJOURS (Musique d’Enfer) and
newcomer SUPER FROLIC (Pine Bluff) each worked over a fast track at Del Mar on
Monday in preparation for the $1 million Pacific Classic (G1) on August 21.
Grade 2 winner Preachinatthebar worked five furlongs in 1:00 2/5 under jockey
Victor Espinoza. The Bob Baffert trainee most recently finished a close third to
Pacific Classic contender CHOCTAW NATION (Louis Quatorze) in the San Diego H.
(G2) on July 24.
Sunshine Millions Classic S. winner Musique Toujours drilled six furlongs in
1:12 3/5 beneath exercise rider Jelani Grant. Musique Toujours comes off a
fourth-place finish in the Hollywood Gold Cup (G1) on July 9. Trainer John
Sadler said the five-year-old is scheduled for a seven-furlong work on Sunday
and that Jorge Chavez will ride the horse in the 1 1/4-mile Pacific Classic.
Multiple stakes winner Super Frolic, a recent purchase by computer company
executive Ro Parra, sizzled five furlongs in :58 4/5, according to the Del Mar
press office, in company with stablemate Robledo (Robannier). The latter started
two lengths ahead of Super Frolic, who caught his workmate after three furlongs
in :34 3/5. The pair finished together.
“Super Frolic worked quite well,” trainer Vladimir Cerin said. “He came out
of the work well, and we’re ready for the next step.”
Super Frolic arrived at Cerin’s barn last Wednesday.
