A bay colt by West Acre topped the fourth and final open session of the Ocala
Breeders’ Sales Company’s August Yearling Sale when Eisaman Equine
purchased the youngster for $57,000. Consigned by Tuxedo Farm, agent, as Hip No.
1424, the colt is out of the winning Aunt Pia (Sejm), who is a half-sister
to the stakes- placed Atlanta Exclusive (Exclusive Ribot), and hails from the same female family as
stakes winner Strider (Sea-Bird).
Hip 1337, a chestnut colt by City Zip, brought the second-highest price of
the day when purchased for $45,000 by Robert and Mary Harris, agent. The yearling
colt was consigned by Summerfield, agent, and is the first foal out of the winning Willa
(Mountain Cat). He comes from the same female family as Grade 2 winner March
Magic (Evansville Slew) and stakes winner Straight Draw (Launch a Leader).
There were 161 yearlings that sold Friday for a total $1,412,200 and an average of $8,771. The median price was $5,500 and the buyback percentage was 32
percent. There was no comparative session in 2004.
Overall, 751 horses sold in four open sessions, bringing a total of $7,709,100,
an average of $10,265 and a median of $6,000. Last year, 714 horses
sold in three open sessions for an aggregate $9,109,400, an average of $12,758 and a
median
of $7,000.
