In the $100,000
Teddy Drone S., New Farm’s homebred Grade 1 winner WILDCAT
HEIR (Forest Wildcat) showed no rust following a layoff in his dominating 5 3/4
length-win for trainer Ben Perkins Jr. The classy colt, last seen taking the
Frank J. DeFrancis Memorial Dash S. (G1), sat third behind a wicked early pace
before showing his class late in stopping the timer in a swift 1:08 2/5 beneath
Stewart Elliot. The five-year-old now sports a career line of 11-6-4-0, and also
shows a placing in the Sanford S. (G2) on his resume.

Also on the Haskell undercard, the Edwin Broome owned and trained NETWORK
(Pulpit) overtook pacesetter Touched By Madness (Sword Dance [Ire]) in the latter stages to
register a tally in the $100,000
Lamplighter S.
over the turf course. Ridden by
Javier Castellano, the sophomore colt completed the firm mile in 1:35 4/5 en
route to his second stakes tally, moving his mark to 10-6-1-0 in the process.

Gilbert G Campbell’s homebred FRIEL’S FOR REAL (Sword Dance [Ire]) sat last
at the six furlong mark, but that didn’t stop the five-year-old as she closed
mightily to take the $100,000
Lady’s Secret S. at Monmouth Park on Sunday.
Tracking splits of :23 4/5, :47 4/5 and 1:12 1/5 for the opening half-mile,
Elliot began to urge his mount and she responded in a big way,
completing the 1 1/16-mile fray in 1:45 for conditioner Edward Allard. The
Grade 3 winning mare shows a 24-11-3-3 lifetime line.

Shadwell Stable’s AREEK (Deputy Minister) moved to the fore in late stretch
and prevailed by a head in winning the $100,000
Regret S. The four-year-old lass
rated in midpack before making her move entering the stretch, finishing off six
fast furlongs in 1:10 for trainer Mark Hennig and jockey Jose Velez. The filly
was victorious in the Red Cross S. last out, and upped her career mark to
15-7-2-2.

Tee-N-Jay Farm’s TRUEAMERICANSPIRIT (Is it True) charged home and nipped a
fast-closing Hurricane Shockey (Evening Kris) by a nose when annexing the $60,000
Lincroft H. over one mile and 70 yards. The Timothy Hills trainee stopped the
timer in 1:42 4/5 under Rajiv Maragh in taking his third black-type race. The
five-year-old New Jersey bred now sports a career line of 27-7-7-4.

Starlight Stables, et al’s multiple Grade 2 winner PURGE (Pulpit) made a
winning return to the races in taking the 3RD race at Monmouth for Todd Pletcher.
The four-year-old colt had been unplaced in his last four outings, but showed a
form reversal in drawing away by 12 lengths under Chris DeCarlo. The bay
completed the one mile and 70 yard-allowance tilt in a sharp 1:41 1/5, and now
has a 12-5-1-0 lifetime record.
