Like many races in Southern California, only six horses will line up for
Saturday’s Hollywood Prevue S. (G3). All six entrants for the seven-furlong test
will receive the maximum weight allowance since each and every one of them have
only a maiden victory to their credit. The race is a competitive affair, with
plenty of speed present, but it’s unlikely to offer significant wagering value
due to the small size of the field.

THE PHARAOH (Forest Camp) forced fast fractions from the outside before
diminishing in the 1 1/16-mile Norfolk S. (G2) in his last start. Prior to that,
he was in the mix early before finishing gamely for runner-up honors to eventual
Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) winner and probable champion Stevie Wonderboy
(Stephen Got Even) in the seven-furlong Del Mar Futurity (G2). The Pharaoh turns
back in distance and is tactically drawn on the outside for a look-see trip. He
rates a slight nod.

The Bob Baffert-trained DA STOOPS (Distorted Humor) opened up a clear lead
before finishing third to Norfolk runner-up A. P. Warrior (A.P. Indy) in a one-mile
allowance event last out. The dark bay colt could be the speed-of-the-speed and
should be tough shortening up in distance with an outside draw.

BENGAL LORE (Tale of the Cat) set fast fractions then just missed winning the
six-furlong Sunny Slope S. by a nostril in 1:09 last out. He rates the inside
speed threat but has never raced this far. Mixed feelings.

OLD THUNDER (Fusaichi Pegasus), an even fifth in the Del Mar
Futurity, was a pretty eight-length maiden winner going this distance in
his latest. He projects an inside stalking trip and may earn a share.

YOUR TENT OR MINE (Forest Camp) broke his maiden from off the pace in fine
fashion in his debut at Del Mar. The Neil Drysdale trainee adds first-time Lasix
and could bid for part with improvement. THE FIVE J’S (Lost Soldier) broke his
maiden for a tag two back and appears up against it with these.
