Two seven-horse stakes fields have been lined up at Aqueduct on Saturday, and
each one features a standout.
LATICE (GB) (Inchinor [GB]) will carry the top weight of 121 pounds in the
$150,000 Long Island H. (G2) while going 1 1/2 miles on the green. The Jonathan
Sheppard trainee was named highweight in France last season and made her U.S.
debut in August, taking the Waya S. by 1 3/4 lengths. The four-year-old lass
moved on to Canada in her last start, just missing by a half-length in the E.P.
Taylor S. (Can-G1). She’ll have Jose Santos aboard Saturday.
Also set to go in the Long Island is SPOTLIGHT (GB) (Dr Fong), who earned her
first win since taking last season’s Lake Placid H. (G2) in the Cicada S. on
October 3. She’s run well in her starts between those two, and the Christophe Clement charge will get five pounds from Latice. Ramon Dominguez will
be back in the irons.
KATE WINSLET (Signal Tap) and jockey Cornelio Velazquez will lead the post
parade under a 114-pound impost. They’ll be followed by Latice; SERENDIPITOUS
(Pleasant Tap), Channing Hill, 110; OLAYA (Theatrical [Ire]), Edgar Prado, 112;
A LULU OFA MENIFEE (Menifee), John Velazquez, 115; Spotlight; and LITTLE
BUTTERCUP (Labeeb [GB]), Mike Luzzi, 114.
One race earlier, PERSONAL LEGEND (Awesome Again) will also go to the gate as
the 121-pound highweight, this time in the $100,000 Turnback the Alarm S. (G3).
A half-length winner of this nine-furlong event last year, the Bobby
Frankel-trained five-year-old is looking for her first victory since taking the
Stage Door Betty S. on New Year’s Day at Aqueduct. Prado has the
call.
Other contenders in the Turnback the Alarm are Athenia H. winner ASTI (Ire)
(Sadler’s Wells) and INDIAN VALE (A.P. Indy), who has captured three of her four
starts by a total 25 lengths.
The complete field, with jockeys and imposts, is SHEBELONGSTOYOU (Belong to
Me), Joe Bravo, 113; TAITTINGER ROSE (Menifee), Velazquez, 116; Personal
Legend; SILENT SIREN (Quiet American), Fernando Jara, 112; Asti, Jorge Chavez,
115; WAIT IT OUT (Swain [Ire]), Jean-Luc Samyn, 112; and Indian Vale, Velazquez,
112.
