Saturday’s $150,000 Mrs. Revere S. (G2) features nine sophomore fillies over
1 1/16 grassy miles at Churchill Downs, and the top two betting choices, MY
TYPHOON (Ire) (Giant’s Causeway) and ISLA COZZENE (Cozzene), are easy to
identify. Both merit serious respect, but we’re going with SILVER CUP (Ire) (Almutawakel
[GB]) to record a small upset.

The dark bay filly reeled off four consecutive wins in Italy, capped by a
victory in the classic Premio Regina Elena (Ity-G2), the Italian One Thousand Guineas.
She received support in her
U.S. bow when bet to 11-1 in the American Invitational Oaks (G1) at Hollywood Park in July. Silver Cup
got buried at the back of the field in the early running, but she passed rivals
in the stretch to finish a decent seventh against better competition than she’ll
face on Saturday. Freshened until October by trainer Patrick Biancone, she
returned to the races in a Keeneland allowance and closed well to be second off
very slow fractions. Silver Cup is eligible to move way forward off that tightener, and the classy late runner figures to get plenty of pace
in front to
set up a winning rally.

Isla Cozzene should be rolling on the far turn and into the stretch, and we
wouldn’t be surprised to see her mow down her opponents. The bay filly earned
her first stakes triumph and second overall win with an authoritative 3
3/4-length decision in the Hawthorne Oaks last out, receiving triple-digit BRIS
Speed and Late Pace numbers, and she’s trained forwardly at Churchill for Nick Canani. Isla Cozzene owns a 2-2-0 mark from five starts at the distance and
could earn her first graded victory in this spot.

My Typhoon captured the Virginia Oaks in mid-July prior to a commendable
second by a head in the Lake Placid H. (G2) at Saratoga. She’s faltered as the
favorite in her last two starts, but her most recent came over the dirt, and she
finished third in the Garden City Breeders’ Cup H. (G1) before that. The Bill
Mott-trained chestnut is unbeaten in two attempts at 8 1/2 furlongs, and her BRIS
figures are top-notch. My Typhoon has plenty of early speed and set the
pace in her last turf start, but we’ll look for her to revert to rating tactics
here. She’ll likely get the jump on her main challengers and could prove
difficult to reel in through the stretch.

BE ENVIED (Lemon Drop Kid) is a well-bred chestnut making her stakes debut
for Neil Howard. She ships in off a pair of sprint wins at Woodbine and figures
to appreciate the added ground given her pedigree. Be Envied also owns a
favorable late running style in this speed-laden affair and looms as a threat to
close for part in this class check.

THATSWHATIMEAN (Belong to Me) exits a third in a listed stakes at Santa Anita
and recorded a second in June’s Honeymoon Breeders’ Cup H. (G2) against some
nice foes. The Warren Stute trainee tailed off in her next two starts following
the Honeymoon, but she bounced back with an encouraging showing last time and
could continue to show more on Saturday. Thatswhatimean is a threat to finish in
the money from just off the pace. FLYING CIRCLE (Pembroke) must avoid getting
caught up in a pace battle to be effective, and she could have a major say in
the outcome if she sits a good trip. The speedy miss showed her affinity for
Churchill’s turf in May when scoring by 2 1/4 lengths in the five-furlong
Open Mind S. and brings good present form into this event, but her best efforts
have come around one turn. We’ll use her on the bottom of some gimmicks.

MANILA FUDGE (Outflanker) makes her stakes bow following wire-to-wire wins
over maiden and allowance rivals in her last two outings and will likely show the
way from the start. The Ralph Nicks charge will probably face pressure up
front, and it could be best to give her a race at this level. ELLE RUNAWAY (El Prado [Ire]) exits a decent fourth in the Valley View
S. (G3) but still has class
concerns in this spot. She hasn’t hit the board in two starts at the distance
and owns lower Speed ratings. WINNING SEASON (Lemon Drop Kid) doesn’t bring
encouraging form into her turf debut, and we’ll just watch to see how she fares.
