Paul Makin’s STARCRAFT (NZ) (Soviet Song) could remain in the United States
for Aqueduct’s $350,000 Cigar Mile H. (G1) on November 26. Seventh as the 8-1
third choice when making his dirt debut in Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Classic
(G1), the multiple Group 1-winning five-year-old had to be supplemented for
$800,000 to the 1 1/4-mile race.
“I think he probably doesn’t stay a mile and a quarter, that plus the dirt
issue,” Makin told the Racing Post. “We’ll have to regroup now.”
“We might run him in the Cigar Mile or could leave him here with (trainer)
Christophe Clement.”
