With Society Selection (Coronado’s Quest) apparently opting for Saturday’s Cigar Mile H.
(G1), STELLAR JAYNE (Wild Rush) is a standout for Friday’s $150,000 Top Flight
H. (G2). The gray four-year-old will face seven rivals in the one-mile, one-turn
event at Aqueduct.
A three-time Grade 1 winner, the Godolphin-owned filly easily captured her
first two starts this year, including a 1 1/2-length score in the Ruffian H.
(G1), before finishing fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) most recently.
The Saeed bin Suroor trainee looked like the possible lone speed but didn’t go
to the lead under Frankie Dettori that afternoon, and Jerry Bailey figures to
give her a better ride on the front end Friday. Stellar Jayne will spot her
rivals seven-to-10 pounds as the 123-pound highweight.
Her main challengers include Grade 2 winners SEEKING THE ANTE (Seeking the
Gold) and LAST SONG (Unbridled’s Song).
BOHEMIAN LADY (Carson City), who exits a second-place finish in the Athenia
H., will lead the post parade under a 115-pound impost that includes Jose
Santos. Next comes Seeking the Ante, Mike Luzzi, 116; AREEK (Deputy Minister),
Jose Velez Jr., 115; Last Song, Cornelio Velasquez, 115; A SONG IN A MINOR (Real
Quiet), Pablo Morales, 114; Stellar Jayne; ENDER’S SISTER (A.P. Indy), Javier
Castellano, 114; and CLOAKOF VAGUENESS (El Prado [Ire]), Norberto Arroyo Jr.,
113.
