El Corredor colt brings $160,000

A yearling colt by El Corredor, Hip No. 372, fetched the top price of
$160,000 from B.G.H. Ranch at Wednesday’s session of the Ocala
Breeders’ Sales Company’s Winter Mixed Sale.

Consigned by Beth Bayer, agent, the dark bay Pennsylvania-bred is the first
foal out of the unraced Tale of the Cat mare Ataleoftwokitties, a half-sister to
multiple stakes winner Long Distance (Expensive Decision) and stakes-placed
winner Love On Hold (Prenup). His third dam, French stakes winner Pontresina
(Prove Out), is the dam of multiple stakes winner Calliope’s Spirt (Star de
Naskra) and Grade 3-placed Prairie Pioneer (Star de Naskra).

Hip 392, DANCE SPECIAL (Theatrical [Ire]), a broodmare prospect, sold for
$135,000 to Journeyman Bloodstock. Consigned by Moreau Bloodstock, agent, the
five-year-old mare is a half-sister to 2005 West Virginia Derby (G3) winner Real
Dandy (Yankee Victor), who has amassed earnings of $819,935, and multiple stakes
winner Premeditation (Afternoon Deelites), an earner of $318,000.

The chestnut is out of the winning Jade Hunter mare Berga, a full sister to
multiple Grade 1 winner Diazo and stakes winner Mort. Her second dam is
the stakes-placed winner Cruella (Tyrant).

On Tuesday, 184 horses sold for $3,122,000, a decrease of 11.1 percent
compared to the same session last year when 187 horses sold for $3,509,100. The
average price dropped 9.6 percent, from $18,765 to $16,967, while the median
price fell 33.3 percent, from $12,000 to $8,000. The buyback rate was 29.5
percent compared to 32.7 last year.
