The unbeaten FRENCH PARK (Ecton Park), winner of the Golden Rod S. (G2) and
Pocahontas S. (G3), embarks on the path toward the Kentucky Oaks (G1) in
Saturday’s $250,000 Silverbulletday S. (G3). The Helen Pitts-trained filly
didn’t earn the biggest BRIS Speed ratings for those victories, but they’re
still better than her rivals’ and she owns plenty of room for improvement at
three.
After crushing maiden special weight rivals on the front end by 12 1/4
lengths, French Park exhibited the ability to rate in her two stakes wins,
stalking in midpack in the 1 1/16-mile Golden Rod before unleashing a furious
rally down the stretch to prevail by a half-length over Alcibiades S. (G2)
heroine She Says It Best. The gray filly displayed plenty of heart, and she’s
got the pedigree to excel in routes. We think she’ll swamp her rivals in
Louisiana and will look for value on the bottom of the exotics.
HOOCHIE GLIDE (High Yield) was favored in her career bow, a tough
maiden special weight at Keeneland, but failed to fire as the favorite.
Following a brief freshening, the chestnut captured a December 23 maiden special
weight at Louisiana Downs, pulling clear to win by 1 1/2 lengths under Terry
Thompson. Hoochie Glide didn’t earn but an 80 Speed rating that afternoon, and
she’s listed at 10-1 on the morning line with Thompson up again, however she could
also really move forward on Saturday. The Larry Jones trainee likes the track and
should be stalking a quick pace. She could threaten late.
WILD TONIGHT (Wild Again) broke her maiden in nice fashion at Arlington Park
in September but sort of fell apart in her next two outings at Churchill.
Trainer Bob Holthus regrouped and shipped her to Louisiana Downs in mid-December,
and Wild Tonight responded with a sharp 1 1/2-length allowance win, earning
commendable Speed (87) and Late Pace (97) numbers. Favorably drawn to the
inside, Wild Tonight may come calling from off the pace.
CINTAROSA (Grand Slam) has turned in some respectable performances but exits a
dull showing over the track last out. It was her first start against winners, and
the experience could set her up for a much better effort this time around, so
consider for the top three.
SEEN DANCING (Souvenir Copy) exits a nice win in the Gowell S. over the
Polytrack at Turfway Park and has won her last two for conditioner Bernie Flint.
The bay miss owns a solid turn of foot and owns some appeal for the exotics at
10-1. Trainer Todd Pletcher, who must always be respected, ships in CAPOZZENE
(Capote) for the Silverbulletday. The gray filly broke her maiden at first
asking and won a
one-mile listed event at Monmouth Park last summer, and she finished second in
the 8 1/2-furlong Three Ring S. at Calder last out as the 8-5 favorite. Her
Speed ratings are lower than many of her rivals, and we’re willing to take a
stand against even though we know it could be a mistake.
DEVINE LAUGHTER (Saint Ballado) is in good form, but she draws the far
outside and could get caught wide chasing a contested pace. The front runner may
face too much pressure. BAGHDARIA (Royal Academy) broke her maiden against a
soft group at Hawthorne and then won an allowance/optional claimer at Louisiana
Downs. Her winning attitude is nice, but we’re just going to watch and see how
she fares against this group on dirt.
