A filly from the first crop of multiple Australian Group 1 stakes winner Dash
for Cash brought a sale-record A$70,000 to top Monday’s Magic Millions Tasmanian
Select Yearling Sale in Launceston. Joe O’Neill from Prime Thoroughbreds made
the winning bid on the filly, who sold as Lot No. 56. The yearling is the first
foal of three-time Melbourne winner Vickers (Flying Spur) and was consigned by
Armidale Stud.
A total of 111 yearlings sold for A$1,523,500 and a record average of
A$13,725. During last year’s auction, 83 horses sold for a total of A$849,500
and an average of A$10,235.
“We’re delighted with the progress the Tasmanian Select Yearling Sale has
made in the past 12 months,” Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester
said. “The quality was so good that a lot of them wouldn’t have been out of
place in a leading yearling sale on the mainland.”
