Jaber Abdullah’s FLASHY WINGS (Zafonic) will not take part in a trial for the
May 7 One Thousand Guineas (Eng-G1) at Newmarket, her connections announced
Tuesday. They had been considering a prep for last year’s Queen Mary S. (Eng-G2)
and Lowther S. (Eng-G2) winner, but trainer Mick Channon Tuesday ruled out that
scenario.
“I’m very happy with her and we’re going straight to the Guineas and we’ll
take everything from there,” Channon said. The Lambourn conditioner also
revealed that Saturday’s Irish Two Thousand Guineas Trial S. (Ire-G3) victor
YASOOD (Inchinor [GB]) would be aimed at the May 6 Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-G1)
at Newmarket.
In other Two Thousand Guineas news, Middle Park S. (Eng-G1) hero AMADEUS WOLF
(Mozart [Ire]) delighted connections in a racecourse gallop on Newmarket’s
Rowley Mile Tuesday. After enjoying a seven-furlong spin under Neil Callan with
a stable companion, the sophomore was confirmed on target for his 2006 return in
the one-mile classic.
“All we’ve got to do now is try and keep him at 100 percent,” trainer Kevin
Ryan told PA Sport. “He’s done a nice piece of work with a very good horse and
it is lovely ground to work him on. He’s very forward in his coat and I’m happy
with him. He is a very easy horse to get ready.”
Amadeus Wolf also captured the Gimrack S. (Eng-G2) and placed in the Coventry
S. (Eng-G2) last year, compiling an overall mark of 4-2-1-1.
