Hip No. 879, LAKE ISLAND (Songandaprayer), sold for the top price of $460,000
to Zayat Stables at Thursday’s session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s
Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. The Florida-bred, consigned by Eisaman
Equine, agent, is out of the winning Meadowlake mare Island Lake, a half-sister
to stakes-placed winner Zenvar (Zen).
The bay colt worked a quarter-mile in a bullet :20 4/5 at last Friday’s under
tack preview.
Hip 909, a bay colt by Songandaprayer, fetched $375,000 from Buzz Chace, agent.
Consigned by Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds, agent, the Florida-bred is the
first foal out of the unraced Personal Hope mare Just Personal, a half-sister to
the stakes-winning, stakes-producer Diamonds and Legs (Quiet American).
The colt worked one furlong in :10 1/5 at the under tack preview.
For the session, 186 horses sold for $6,543,100, an 18.6 percent increase
compared to last year when 196 horses sold for an aggregate of $5,515,000. The
average price jumped 25 percent, from $28,138 to $35,178.
