Connections of AMADEUS WOLF (Mozart [Ire]) have confirmed that the sophomore
will drop back to six furlongs for the June 24 Golden Jubilee S. (Eng-G1) at
Royal Ascot. Owned by a syndicate involving the Irish National Stud, last year’s
Middle Park S. (Eng-G1) and Gimcrack S. (Eng-G2) hero was ninth while trying a
mile in the Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-G1) at Newmarket on May 6.
“He’s come out of the race great and will go straight to Ascot now for the
Jubilee,” conditioner Kevin Ryan commented. “Even if had stayed in the Guineas,
he wouldn’t have beaten the winner and, in fairness, he was the only one who
looked like a sprinter beforehand, so the writing was probably on the wall. He’s
working great, so we’ll stay down the sprinting road for the rest of the year.”
