A season to classic winner and Horse of the Year contender Bernardini has
been added to the stellar roster of seasons on offer at the 17th annual
Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA) Stallion Season Auction, which will
begin on Monday and conclude with a live auction at the Keeneland Entertainment
Center on Friday. Darley at Jonabell donated the season to the Preakness S.
(G1), Travers S. (G1) and Jockey Club Gold Cup S. (G1) hero, who will enter stud
in 2007.
The auction will feature seasons to such notable stallions as Unbridled’s
Song, Bluegrass Cat, Songandaprayer, Awesome Again, Dynaformer, Speightstown,
Vindication and Bellamy Road, among others. Included on the roster is a package
of stallion seasons for 2007 donated by Eclipse Award-winning trainer Todd
Pletcher.
The largest Thoroughbred charity in the country, TCA will distribute the
proceeds to approximately 150 organizations involved with racehorse rescue and
retraining, backstretch aid, equine research and other worthy causes. Last
year’s TCA event raised $1.9 million, with more than 93 cents of every dollar
raised going directly to the charities.
