The 87th annual Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearling Sale will be held on
Monday and Tuesday evenings, August 6 and 7, in 2007. In previous years, the
sale began on a Tuesday, a dark day at Saratoga Race Course.
“As the oldest yearling sale in North America, Saratoga has seen and
prospered through several date and format changes,” Fasig-Tipton President Walt
Robertson said. “In an environment where fewer out-of-state visitors can stay in
Saratoga for an extended period, we saw an opportunity to streamline the sales
schedule for buyers and sellers alike. We will be looking to offer the same
number of yearlings, or more, in these two nights.”
The date change will allow the sales company to move up by one night the New
York-Bred Selected Yearling Sale, which will now be held on Friday and Saturday
evenings, August 10 and 11. An Open Yearling Sale, on Tuesday, August 14, will
conclude the Saratoga schedule.
