Societa Gestione Aste (SGA)’s November Sale began with keen trade throughout
Friday’s yearling section, underpinning significant advances at the Settimo
Milanese complex.
Repeating last year’s feat, leading consignor SARL was again responsible for
the highest-priced lot by entering Hip 63. Already named SALUGGIA, the
May-foaled filly by Galileo (Ire) was her sire’s lone representative and was
purchased for 62,000 by Emilio Balzarini’s Scuderia Siba.
Champion trainer Alduino Botti was active throughout the session and secured
the most expensive of his eight purchases with his first bidding foray. He went
to 52,000, the day’s second-highest price, to acquire Hip 3, an Indian Ridge
filly and another from the SARL draft.
With a slightly expanded catalog, the aggregate broke through the
seven-figure barrier for the first time and the 1,032,500 yield was a massive 41
percent higher on 2005. Of the 183 yearlings offered, 115 sold at an average
8,978, a near 23-percent increase over 12 months ago.
Selling resumes Saturday morning, with foals, mares in foal, broodmare
prospects and horses in training on offer. Full results can be viewed at
