Tommy Town Thoroughbreds’ WHATSTHESCRIPT (Ire) (Royal Applause [GB]) advanced
his American mark to two for two with a comfortable half-length score in the
second division of Friday’s $75,000

Generous S. (G3)
. Under confident handling by Isaias Enriquez, the bay
juvenile rated off the early pace of :24 1/5 and :48 1/5. After ranging up into
second through six furlongs in 1:11 4/5, Whatsthescript hinted that he was ready
to go when called upon, but the patient Enriquez bided his time until reaching
the stretch. The even-money favorite then pounced to a narrow lead and won well
in hand for trainer Manuel Marques, stopping the teletimer in 1:36 for the
firm-turf mile to return $4.20, $3.20 and $2.40.

Vauquelin (Ire) (Xaar) closed willingly for second, paying $4.60 and $3.40 at
5-1. Sevengoldnmissiles (Golden Missile) had attended the early pace and kept on
well for third another length back. The 15-1 outsider gave back $4.40 to show.
The $1 exotics were worth $7.30 (exacta), $102.70 (trifecta) and $682.10
(9-6-5-8 superfecta) with Vaunt (GB) (Averti) checking in a troubled fourth.
Next came the early leader Roman Commander (Deputy Commander), C’Mon Buddy (Mr.
Greeley) and Holdin Foldin (Ire) (Fayruz). Edwardian (Awesome Again), the 4-1
second choice, broke down badly late on the backstretch after putting his head
in front. Rider Jose Valdivia Jr. was not injured, but Edwardian was euthanized. Regal Times (Rahy) was withdrawn.

Whatsthescript was coming off a half-length victory in the Pinjara S. at Oak
Tree in his American debut. Previously based in Ireland with David Wachman, he
broke his maiden in his second start and finished third to presumptive champion
two-year-old Teofilo (Galileo [Ire]) in the Tyros S. at Leopardstown.
Whatsthescript now sports a mark of 5-3-0-2 with $103,762 in his account.

The winner was bred by C. Mac Hale and J. Hyland in the Emerald Isle. As a
yearling, he was sold for $129,000 at the 2005 Tattersalls October sale.
Whatsthescript is the first foal from the winning Grizel (Lion Cavern), who is a
half-sister to English stakes victress and Group 2-placed Queen of Poland (Halling).
