PRETTY PROUD (Mr. Greeley), a three-year-old racing or broodmare prospect,
sold for the top price of $600,000 to Frankfort Park Stud at Thursday’s session
of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale in Lexington, Kentucky. The bay
filly, Hip No. 1284, was consigned by Hidden Brook, agent.
Pretty Proud is a full sister to 2002 Futurity S. (G1) winner Whywhywhy (Mr.
Greeley) and a half-sister to 2006 San Antonio H. (G2) winner Spellbinder (Tale
of the Cat). She is out of the winning Quiet American mare Thorough Fair, a
half-sister to stakes-placed Harrington Sound (Cahill Road). Her third dam is
the Grade 1-placed stakes producer Equal Change (Arts and Letters).
Pretty Proud has earned $65,022 from a record of 11-2-0-2.
A young Storm Cat mare, EXOTIC ELEGANCE, carrying a foal by Tiznow,
fetched $580,000 from Black Jack Stables. The
five-year-old mare, Hip 1124, was consigned by Mill Ridge
Sales, agent.
Exotic Elegance is out of Exotic Wood (Rahy), who won 11 of 17 starts,
including the Go for Wand H. (G1), Santa Monica H. (G1) and Santa Maria H. (G1).
She earned $890,695 and is a half-sister to multiple stakes-winning
stakes producer J. D. and Water (Northern Prospect). This is the same female
family as 1977 champion handicap mare Cascapedia (Chieftain).
A colt by Yes It’s True, Hip 1233, was the highest-priced weanling, selling
for $300,000 to Stonestreet Stables. Consigned by Gainesway, agent, the bay colt
is out of stakes winner Meteor Cap (Capote), a half-sister to the dam of Grade 3
winner Fight for Ally (Fit to Fight) and stakes winner Colonial Glitter (Glitterman).
This is the same female family as champion Pleasant Stage (Pleasant Colony) and
Grade 1 winner A Phenomenon (Tentam).
On Thursday, 257 horses sold for $31,626,000, a jump of 26.5 percent over
2005 when 251 horses brought $24,996,200. The average increased 23.6 percent,
from $99,586 to $123,058, while the $67,000 median rose 34.3 percent to $90,000
for this session.
A total of 873 horses have been purchased for a gross $225,978,000, an
average of $258,852 and a median of $155,000. Those numbers represent increases
of 0.4 percent, 1.7 percent and 6.9 percent, respectively, over 2005 when 884
horses were sold for a total $224,998,200, an average of $254,523 and a median
of $145,000.
