Ouija Board on course for Vase

Trainer Ed Dunlop has issued an upbeat update on OUIJA BOARD (GB) (Cape Cross
[Ire]) following her third in Sunday’s Japan Cup (Jpn-G1). Lord Derby’s
five-year-old will bid for her eighth Group 1 in her career finale, the Hong
Kong Vase (HK-G1) at Sha Tin on December 10.

“I saw her on Monday morning and she has come out of the race very well,”
Dunlop commented. “She didn’t lose any weight and I’m very happy with her.”

Ouija Board, who was 2 1/2 lengths behind Deep Impact (Sunday Silence) in the Tokyo feature,
was shipped out Tuesday ahead of her repeat bid for the 12-furlong crown.

“She ran well on Sunday and a great horse beat her,” Dunlop added. “A stiff
mile and a half at that level is probably a bit far for her. Hopefully, we’ve
got one last throw of the dice with her — then that will be it.”

Ouija Board is booked to Kingmambo in 2007.
