Last updated: 12/21/06 4:40 PM

Ed Dodwell and Dr. Katie Hayes will be honored by the Texas Thoroughbred
Association (TTA) at its annual conference and awards banquet January 19-20,
2007, at the Doubletree Hotel in Austin, Texas.

Dodwell will receive the T.I. “Pops” Harkins Award for lifetime achievement.
The award is given to those individuals whose contributions to the Texas
Thoroughbred industry over a period of years have helped further the goals of
the TTA. Owner of the Diamond D Ranch training center near Lone Oak, Texas, Dodwell is a leading consignor at the Fasig-Tipton Texas sales and a past
president of the TTA. He also promoted efforts to bring pari-mutuel racing to Texas and
later to revise the simulcasting laws.

Hayes will be honored with the Allen Bogan Memorial Award, given to a TTA
member whose efforts and contributions to the association and the Texas
Thoroughbred industry during the previous year most helped further the goals of
the TTA and racing in the state. Hayes provided information on the benefits of
video lottery terminals (VLTs) to Texas racetracks and equine practitioners,
eventually resulting in the Texas Veterinary Medical Association board passing a
resolution to support a public referendum on VLTs.

Also to be honored at the conference are the Texas-bred champion horses
of 2006.
