LEYENDA DORADA (Gold Legend), a broodmare prospect, sold for the top price of
$50,000 to Adena Springs at the first open session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales
Company’s Winter Mixed Sale on Thursday. The six-year-old mare was named
champion three-year-old filly in Puerto Rico in 2005 and was consigned by Derby
Daze Farm, agent. She was cataloged as Hip No. 548.
Leyenda Dorada won four black-type races and earned $288,890 from a record of
27-8-4-2. She is a half-sister to stakes-placed Presencia (Sudden Thunder) and
is out of the Vigors mare Itsallgreytome. Her second dam, Folk Music (Cornish
Prince), is the granddam of German stakes winner Song of Peace (Zampano), who is the
dam of Star’s Song (Sternkoenig), the 2006 champion stayer in Austria.
On Thursday, 184 horses sold for $1,158,600, a 3.1 percent increase compared
to the first open session a year ago when 183 horses realized $1,124,000. The
average price rose 2.5 percent, from $6,142 to $6,297.
The final open session will take place on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. (EST).
