A colt by Exceed and Excel topped Wednesday’s second session of the Magic
Millions National Weanling Sale at the Gold Coast. The weanling sold for
A$360,000 to the bid of leading Singapore trainer Michael Clements, acting on
behalf of New Zealand-based Noble Bloodstock. He is out of dual-winning Canadian
mare Miss Behave (Bold Revenue) and was consigned by Scone-based Bellerive Stud,
agent.
“He’s one of the nicest horses in the sale,” Clements said. “We are delighted
to be able to buy him.”
The session topper may see the sale ring again soon, but Clements left open
the option of racing the colt.
“We’ll just wait and work on the options — but we would be more than happy
to race him,” he said. “He looks a real racehorse.”
Through two of three sessions of the weanling sale, Magic Millions has sold
279 lots for a total of A$15,348,000 and an average of A$55,000. The clearance
rate is 84.04 percent. The sale continues Thursday and is followed by a general
session on Friday.
