Goresbridge hosts Flat Breeze-Up Sale

Last updated: 5/25/08 8:15 PM

Goresbridge will stage the third renewal of its Flat Breeze-Up Sale on Monday,
with 124 lots cataloged. Among them are juveniles by such leading sires as Danehill
Dancer, Invincible Spirit, King’s Best, Night Shift, Royal Applause
(GB) and Singspiel (Ire), while those with their first runners in 2008 include
Bachelor Duke, Exceed and Excel, Kheleyf, Lucky Story, One Cool Cat and Refuse
to Bend (Ire).

Hopes are high that the sale which produced last year’s Premio Regina Elena
(Italian One Thousand Guineas) (Ity-G3) runner-up Miss Annaleo (Alzao) and the Goffs Million
second-place finisher Hitchens (Acclamation) can continue to grow into an important part
of the breeze-up season. Last year’s highest price was 105,000, paid by Padraic
Maloney for Prince Shaun (Acclamation), who beat the well-touted Red
Eye Express (Giant’s Causeway) in a Dundalk conditions event last month.

Willie Browne’s Mocklershill Stables are consigning for the first time, as is breeze-up regular
Jamie Railton.

“The sale is now a proven source of winners, and we’re thrilled
with how it has progressed,” Goresbridge’s Martin Donohoe said. “The sale’s
record speaks for itself, with 60 winners from 69 runners and, while it’s a nice
compliment to get some British vendors, I think that it’s also a natural
knock-on effect, as people can see that this sale is a success.”

Breezes will
take place at Gowran Park racecourse Monday morning. Catalogs, breezes and the sale can be viewed on www.irishhorse.com.
