Kerrin McEvoy could be in line for the ride on DOCTOR FREMANTLE (Sadler’s
Wells) in the June 7 Epsom Derby (Eng-G1). The Sir Michael Stoute-trained
Chester Vase (Eng-G3) winner will be supplemented to the 1 1/2-mile blue riband on Monday, and Godolphin’s second jockey looks set to benefit if Ryan
Moore selects Tartan Bearer (Spectrum), recent winter of the Dante S. (Eng-G2).
“He is in good form and will probably do a bit of work tomorrow,” Racing Manager Teddy Grimthorpe said
of Doctor Fremantle on Tuesday. “I think he has
come on since his Chester run and it was pleasing to see Bronze Cannon (Lemon
Drop Kid) win on Sunday and confirm his earlier form. Jockey-wise, Ryan has the
choice, but it looks like he will probably ride Tartan Bearer and Kerrin rode
him in work the other day and will probably ride again tomorrow.
“Provided Godolphin don’t have a ride for him, he will probably ride him in
the Derby.”
