Grade 1-placed fillies TORO BONITO (El Corredor) and WILL O WAY (Broken Vow),
along with Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) fourth-placer DAVE’S REVENGE (The
Cliff’s Edge), are the top draws for Sunday’s $100,000
Santa
Ysabel S. (G3) at Santa Anita. Nine newly turned sophomore fillies will
square off in the 1 1/16-mile event over Pro-Ride.
Will O Way is the lone stakes winner in the field by virtue of her 5
1/2-length score last time out in the Corte Madera S. at Golden Gate Fields. The
Vladimir Cerin-trained miss finished third in the Del Mar Debutante (G1) last
summer and will be reunited with jockey Joel Rosario. Toro Bonito overcame a
slow start to rally for third in the Hollywood Starlet (G1) on December 13. The
late-running Dave’s Revenge, who offered a good rally in the Breeders’ Cup
Juvenile Fillies off only a maiden special weight debut victory, will attempt to
rebound from a fifth in the Starlet.
Trainer Doug O’Neill will send out ACTING LADY (Theatrical [Ire]), who
broke her maiden two starts back and exits a third in the grassy Blue Norther S., and Christophe Clement is responsible for HAKA (Dynaformer), who
will make her stakes debut off a 5 1/2-length maiden special weight tally.
JEMMEALEY (Malibu Moon), who exits a maiden special weight score at Meadowlands
for Bill Mott, will make her first start under the direction of new conditioner Bob Baffert.
