West Point Thoroughbreds et al’s JUSTWHISTLEDIXIE (Dixie Union) was content
to stalk in fourth during the backstretch run of Friday’s $200,000
Bonnie
Miss S. (G2)
at Gulfstream Park, circled her rivals rounding the turn and
pulled off to record a 1 3/4-length victory under jockey Julien Leparoux.

Gatorette (Distorted Humor) proceeded to set
the pace through splits of :23 1/5, :46 1/5 and 1:10. Casanova Move (Langfuhr)
followed in second, while Shared Account (Pleasantly Perfect) and
Justwhistledixie raced in tandem off the rail. After pulling and tugging her way
on the lead, Gatorette began tiring nearing the turn. That opened the way for
Casanova Move and Justwhistledixie to pass their leg-weary rival and begin the
battle for victory. It turned out to be a one-sided fight, though, as
Justwhistledixie slowly drew off to finish up 1 1/8 miles on the fast dirt in
1:49 1/5.

Sent off the 3-5 favorite, Justwhistledixie was worth $3.20, $2.20 and $2.10
while keying the $7.80 exacta, $106.20 trifecta and $316.20 superfecta
(6-1-4-2). Casanova Move was easily second best, finishing 10 1/2 lengths in
front of Hopeful Image (Gulch), to pay $3.80 and $2.40 as the 5-1 third choice. Hopeful
Image, the longest shot in the field at 65-1, held third by 2 3/4
lengths and gave back $5. Suz Slew (Statement) followed in fourth while
Gatorette and Shared Account completed the order under the wire.

Justwhistledixie dropped her first two starts, running third in each case,
before beginning her current win streak. She broke her maiden by seven lengths
at Belmont Park in October, captured the Love Affair S. by 3 1/4 lengths one
month later to round out her juvenile campaign and opened 2009 with a 3
1/2-length score in the Ruthless S. Those latter two races came at Aqueduct, but
trainer Kiaran McLaughlin sent the sophomore lass south for the rest of the
winter. She reappeared at Gulfstream Park in the Davona Dale S. (G2), easily
adding that mile test to her line with a 3 3/4-length victory most recently, and
has now banked $337,927 to go along with her 7-5-0-2 career mark.

Bred by Hermitage Farm in Kentucky, the dark bay filly brought the gavel down
at $425,000 at the 2007 Keeneland September Yearling sale. She is the third foal
out of the winning General Jeanne (Honour and Glory) and is a half-sister to
2006 Saratoga Special S. (G2) victor Chace City (Carson City). General Jeanne is
also responsible for an unnamed two-year-old colt by Pleasantly Perfect and an
unnamed yearling colt by Mineshaft. This is the same family as multiple Grade 2
hero Smooth Air (Smooth Jazz).
