Darley Stable’s homebred CRITICISM (GB) (Machiavellian) took the lead soon
after the start of Saturday’s $150,000
La
Prevoyante H. (G2)
at Calder and never looked back while score a one-length
victory under jockey Javier Castellano. Trained by Tom Albertrani, the
five-year-old mare posted splits of :26, :52, 1:17 4/5, 1:42 and 2:05 before
finishing up 1 1/2 miles on the firm turf in 2:29 1/5.

Sent off the 4-5 favorite in the five-horse field, Criticism paid $3.80,
$2.30 and $2.10 while keying the $14.40 exacta, $42.60 trifecta and $47.20
superfecta (4-2-3-5). Long Approach (Broad Brush) dueled Astrologie (Fr) (Polish
Precedent) behind the winner, eventually getting up to take second by 1 1/4
lengths while returning $3.40 and $3 at 4-1. Icon Project (Empire Maker) rallied
from fourth to grab third, 1 3/4 lengths in front of near 5-2 second choice
Astrologie, giving back $3.60 at 4-1. Awesome Moment (Awesome Again) rounded out
the field.

that country last December in her only start on Polytrack, and did not resurface

rallied to finish second. In the bay’s other stateside starts, she has captured
the Long Island H. (G3) and The Very One S. (G3) as well as placed in the Orchid
