George Strawbridge made concrete his earlier stated intentions regarding his
star fillies RAINBOW VIEW (Dynaformer) and Fantasia (Sadler’s Wells) by
withdrawing the latter from Sunday’s One Thousand Guineas (Eng-G1) at Newmarket.
Having committed to the May 10 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches (Fr-G1) at
Longchamp with the Luca Cumani-trained Nell Gwyn S. (Eng-G3) winner Fantasia,
Strawbridge is left with Rainbow View to carry the weight of expectations to
post for the £400,000 classic, which will
have a maximum of 20 fillies in the line-up.
Trainer John Gosden on Monday reported the unbeaten Fillies’ Mile (Eng-G1)
heroine firmly on course.
“Rainbow View worked this morning and worked very well,” Gosden told PA
Sport. “She worked particularly well and I am very happy with her.”
Ballydoyle have a sole declaration in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf
runner-up HEART SHAPED (Storm Cat), while Jim Bolger has left in the trio of the
Swordlestown Sprint S. (Ire-G3) and Albany S. (Eng-G3) scorer CUIS GHAIRE
(Galileo [Ire]), Round Tower S. (Ire-G3) and Leopardstown One Thousand Guineas
Trial (Ire-G3) winner MAOINEACH (Congaree) and the Park Express S. (Ire-G3)
scorer OH GOODNESS ME (Galileo [Ire]).
Cheveley Park S. (Eng-G1) heroine SERIOUS ATTITIDE (Mtoto) and the Moyglare
Stud S. (Ire-G1) first and second AGAIN (Danehill Dancer) and SHIMAH (Storm Cat)
are other notables, with Fred Darling S. (Eng-G3) fourth Sariska (Pivotal) the
most significant scratching.
