Churchill issues reminders for Oaks and Derby Days

Churchill Downs has issued the following reminders in advance of Friday’s
135th running of the Kentucky Oaks (G1) and Saturday’s 135th running of the
Kentucky Derby (G1).












*   Patrons are advised to arrive at the track early on
both days to accommodate search procedures at all entrance gates. All
patrons are subject to scans by magnetic wands before entry to Churchill
Downs on Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks Days.
     
*   Admission gates (1, 3, 10 and 17) will be open at 8
a.m. (EDT) on both days. First post is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on both
days.
     
*   Infield admission to Churchill Downs is $25 on Kentucky
Oaks Day and $40 on Kentucky Derby Day.
     
*   Please note that umbrellas are not allowed inside
Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby or Kentucky Oaks Days. Other items
that may not be carried in to Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby and
Kentucky Oaks Days include alcoholic beverages of any kind, glass
bottles or containers, grills, thermoses, backpacks, luggage (including
briefcases), duffel bags, wagons and weapons (including knives).
     
*   Items permitted for carry-in to Churchill Downs on
Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks Days include coolers (Gates 1 and 3 for
infield use only); food items in clear plastic bags (maximum size 18″ by
18″; no trash bags and limit two per person); “box” lunches if packaged
in clear plastic bags or plastic containers (maximum size 18″ by 18″; no
trash bags and limit two per person); sunscreen (no glass containers);
cell phones, cameras and camcorders (patrons may be required to turn
electronic items on prior to entry); small personal music systems,
radios and televisions (no “boom boxes”); binoculars; purses and baby
bags (all subject to search); strollers (only if carrying a child – no
other items allowed); seat cushions (no backs); chairs (Gate 3 only);
blankets (Gates 1 and 3 for infield use only); and tarpaulins (Gates 1
and 3 for infield use only).
     
*   While coolers and chairs are allowed in the Churchill
Downs infield, these items will not be permitted inside the Infield Club
hospitality area.
