TAQARUB (Aldebaran) drew the rail and appears to be the one to beat in the
$100,000 Hirsch Jacobs S. (G3) at Pimlico. The Kiaran McLaughlin trainee appears
to have the speed and class to handle this field and register his first graded
tally. A dynamite winner of the Jimmy Winkfield S. two back, the well-bred bay
was a big second in the Bay Shore S. (G3) most recently and will be ultra-tough
with a similar performance.

NOT FOR SILVER (Not for Love) dominated three fields in succession to begin
his career for Michael Trombetta, prior to being defeated in his last pair,
recording a fifth-place finish in the Bay Shore most recently. The talented dark
bay is 2nd in BRIS Prime Power (139.4) and has trained well in advance of this,
so we’ll give him a big chance at getting his photo taken if the top one
falters. Julien Pimentel will be in the irons.

EVERYDAY HEROES (Awesome Again) has been virtually untested from three starts
for Tim Ritchey, rolling home with relative ease at Oaklawn Park on each
occasion. The Kentucky-bred bay has very good early speed but is clearly able to
rate some, and he has a big chance from slightly off the pace beneath Jose
Caraballo.

The speedy JU JITSU JAX (Tiger Ridge) has earned BRIS Speed figures of 92,
102, 97 and 100 in his last four outings for trainer Scott Lake, and the
Florida-bred is a threat to take this field wire-to-wire. A solid third at
Charles Town most recently against a nice pair, the colt smoked a strong
half-mile in preparation of this and would not surprise with a win against these
if he leads the way.

NUCLEAR WAYNE (Mineshaft) has run a pair of nice ones in succession for Steve
Asmussen and has the look of another quality sprinter in this field. The
chestnut did little in his synthetic debut but has been a different animal
since, and his win last out was very sharp from a visual standpoint. Robby
Albarado will guide the contender.

DESPITE THE ODDS (Speightstown) has won both of his starts for Michael
Trombetta, including a 10 3/4-length thrashing at first asking. While we respect
the colt and acknowledge that his future is very bright, he’s taking a big step
up in class and may be overbet. We are willing to let the gray beat us, but will
use him underneath.

ESSENCEOFTHEMOON (Malibu Moon) will make his sophomore debut in here for
Andrew Simoff. The bay colt had a big juvenile campaign, winning four times
including the Charles Town Juvenile S. We’re not sure what to expect from the
Maryland-bred, but his 20-1 morning line makes him enticing in the gimmicks.

CHECKLIST (Gone West) will cut back to six panels for this one after
finishing third in the Derby Trial S. (G3) most recently for Todd Pletcher. A
smashing debut winner at Gulfstream, the well-bred sophomore has yet to run a
race of that caliber again and we’ll omit him. YANO (Yonaguska) is quick from
the gate but would need a career showing to clear and top this field from the
outside post. The Bay Shore third has ability but is not among our choices in
here.
