A compact field of six will travel 1 1/16 miles at Calder in Monday’s
$100,000 Memorial Day H. (G3), and it’s virtually anyone’s race. We’ll go with
the durable FINALLYMADEIT (Concerto) to wire this field. Trained by Javier
Negrete, the Grade 1-placed speedster has broken through with a few big wins in
his last nine starts, notably the Fred W. Hooper H. (G3) and Skip Away S. (G3).
While the chestnut ran poorly against many of these last out, it’s rare that he
runs two stinkers in a row. Eduardo Nunez will be atop the Florida-bred.

DREAM MAESTRO (Concerto) was a big second in the Sumter S. most recently and
is another with a major chance in this field. The Bill Kaplan charge has a
strong late kick and seems to be as consistent as they come, finishing in the
top four in eight straight. The pace, however, might be against him here under
Manoel Cruz.

Sumter star MOTOVATO (Proud Citizen) appears to be in the best form of his
career for Marty Wolfson, as evidenced by him earning his initial stakes win in
his latest endeavor. The bay colt will probably be second early and can surely
win this on a surface he’s two-for-two upon. Jermaine Bridgmohan will be in the
irons.

Sumter third HEY BYRN (Put it Back) could have needed his last race, but the
four-year-old is a bit too erratic to endorse with confidence on this occasion.
The Grade 3 victor has finished worse than third in seven of his previous 10
tries. With that said, a top showing by this Florida-bred puts him squarely in
the mix.

REHOBOTH (Wagon Limit) put in a useful run last out when fourth in the Sumter
S. and finished second to our top pick in this race last year. Conditioned by
Eddie Plesa, Jr., the dark bay has eight local wins, but seems a step slower
than he used to be. We’ll leave him off our tickets.

Peruvian Group 1 winner PECHITO (Arg) (Interprete) was never involved in the
Sumter and looks like an unusable longshot to us.
