Richard Santulli’s SOCIAL QUEEN (Dynaformer) was anchored in last off a
sedate early pace in Saturday’s $100,000

Gallorette H. (G3)
, but despite that tactical disadvantage, she got up in
time to deny All Is Vanity (Fr) (Gold Away [Ire]) by a head at the wire. Trained
by Alan Goldberg and ridden by Rafael Bejarano, the 9-1 shot unleashed a
ferocious late run to finish 1 1/16 miles in 1:41 4/5 on the firm turf.

All Is Vanity had enjoyed an ideal stalking trip, hugging the rail just
behind Viva La Flag (Rahy) through splits of :23 4/5, :48 2/5 and 1:12 1/5.
Pressing her every step of the way was 4-5 choice Dynaforce (Dynaformer), who
appeared to be a bit eager in her 2009 debut. Entering the stretch, All Is
Vanity angled off the fence to deliver her challenge, and she soon mastered Viva
La Flag and a weakening Dynaforce.

Just when All Is Vanity opened up, Social Queen suddenly erupted into
contention down the center of the course. The leader was not stopping, but
Social Queen was roaring home and gaining with every stride. The upset winner
thrust her head in front when it counted, sparking payouts of $20.20, $7.80 and
$4.60.

All Is Vanity, the 2-1 second choice who finished a clear second by 2 1/4
lengths, returned $3.80 and $3 while concluding the $67.40 exacta. The 7-1
Tejida (Rahy) rallied for third and gave back $3.60. The trifecta yielded
$284.60, and with Viva La Flag crossing the wire in fourth at 15-1, the 7-2-6-4
superfecta totaled $1,995.20. Dynaforce tired to fifth and was followed by
Royalties (King of Kings [Ire]) and Shytoe Lafeet (King of Kings [Ire]). Quiet
Meadow (El Prado [Ire]) was scratched.

Social Queen was recording her fourth career stakes victory, having captured
last year’s Eatontown S. (G3) and Politely S. along with the 2007 Staybridge
Suites S., all at Monmouth. The five-year-old mare was most recently third in
the Beaugay S. (G3) at Belmont.

The winner was bred in Kentucky by James E. English and Hermitage Farm and
sold for $275,000 as a yearling at Keeneland September. Social Queen is the
first foal from stakes victress and Grade 3-placed Gal on the Go (Irgun), who is
herself out of a half-sister to Grade 1 star and $4.7 million earner Perfect
Drift (Dynaformer). Gal on the Go has also produced an unnamed juvenile colt by
Pleasantly Perfect, a yearling colt by Tapit and a 2009 filly by Arch.
