SOCIAL QUEEN (Dynaformer) will defend her title in Sunday’s $150,000
Eatontown H. (G3) at Monmouth Park, but she will have to overcome Grade 1 queen
ARIEGE (Doneraile Court) and six other turf distaffers.

We’ll tab Ariege for the win. Trained by Bobby Frankel, the four-year-old
filly captured the Santa Anita Oaks (G1) and Beaumont S. (G2) on synthetics
tracks and showed her turf prowess with a victory Madame Jumel S. at Saratoga.
She rounded out 2008 with a close third in the Garden City S. (G1) and a subpar
fifth as the favorite in the Queen Elizabeth II Invitational Challenge Cup S.
(G1). After being sold for $1.8 million to Stronach Stables at the Keeneland
November sale, Ariege returned to the races this year in sharp fashion, earning
a 97 BRIS Speed and 116 BRIS Late Pace rating for 1 1/16-mile turf allowance
score at Keeneland. She’s poised to be a serious factor in her division this
season and looks tough to deny here under Julien Leparoux.

ELUSIVE LADY (Van Nistelrooy) recorded three consecutive seconds versus stakes
rivals on the turf prior a disappointing eighth in the Distaff Turf Mile (G2)
last out, but we’ll excuse that uncharacteristic performance and look for a top
showing here. The John Kimmel-trained gray will be a pace presence, and she’s a
threat to last a long way under Richard Migliore.

ALL IS VANITY (Fr) (Gold Away [Ire]) will enter in good form for Christophe
Clement, missing by only a head in the Gallorette H. (G3) on Preakness Day, and
she’s never failed to finish in the top three in seven U.S. starts. Joe Bravo
has ridden the stakes winner before, and the five-year-old mare figures to sit a
good stalking trip before offering her best. All is Vanity could wind up in the
mix once again.

Social Queen likes the course (four-for-six at Monmouth) and will be running
late under Javier Castellano. The five-year-old mare recorded a 112 BRIS Late
Pace number when posting a hard-fought win in the Gallorette last out, and we
must respect her present form. However, the Alan Goldberg runner will leave
herself too much to do on many occasions when facing quality competition. We
feel she may come up a little short on Sunday, but Social Queen still merits
serious consideration for the exotics.

SUGAR BABY LOVE (Ger) (Second Empire [Ire]) will be facing a class check, but
she enters on the upswing for Ralph Nicks and could possibly factor in the
gimmicks. The five-year-old mare posted a 106 Late Pace number when rallying to
a half-length score over allowance/optional claiming rivals in her last outing
at Churchill, and she may get involved late here.

QUIET MEADOW (El Prado [Ire]) will bring a two-race win streak into her
graded debut, but we’re not sure if the four-year-old filly is fast enough to
challenge. CHESTORIA (Chester House) finished a bang-up second in last year’s
Eatontown, but she’s tough to recommend off a dull seasonal debut last out
versus New York-bred rivals. FOLLOW MY DREAM (Freud) has failed to hit the board
in her last three outings and doesn’t appear to fit well in this spot.
