Monmouth Park announced Thursday that the purse for the 42nd running of the
Haskell Invitational (G1) on August 2 got a boost of $250,000 and will now total
$1.25 million.
The new purse distribution for the Haskell is as follows:

The Haskell is the centerpiece of the Monmouth Park racing season and has
featured 24 champions, including five Horse of the Year honorees.
This year’s renewal of the 1 1/8-mile race is expected to draw superstar
filly and Preakness S. (G1) queen RACHEL ALEXANDRA (Medaglia d’Oro) as well as
Belmont S. (G1) champion SUMMER BIRD (Birdstone).
Others likely to show up are
Arkansas Derby (G2) winner PAPA CLEM (Smart Strike), dual Grade 2 victor MUNNINGS (Speightstown) and Monmouth Park stakes scorer BUNKER HILL (Trippi).
DUKE OF MISCHIEF (Graeme Hall), a five-length hero of the Iowa Derby last out,
is considered possible for the race.
Estimated post for the Haskell is 6:14 p.m. (EDT), and gates will open on
Haskell Day at 10 a.m., with the first race set to go at noon.
