U.A.E. highweight sprinter and millionaire OUR NEW RECRUIT (Alphabet Soup)
registered his first winner as a freshman sire when At the Front captured
Wednesday’s 9TH race at Del Mar. Trained by John Sadler, like his sire, the dark
bay juvenile was dispatched as the 9-5 choice in his second career start. At the
Front flashed early speed beneath Joel Rosario, pulled away to score by 1 3/4
lengths, and completed six furlongs in 1:12 1/5 on the Polytrack.
Our New Recruit landed his biggest victory in the 2004 Dubai Golden Shaheen
(UAE-G1), where he surged two lengths clear. In the process, he defeated a
world-class field that included Alke, Conroy, reigning Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1)
champion Cajun Beat and defending Golden Shaheen champion State City.
Our New Recruit’s resume also features a score in the Pirate’s Bounty H. and
placings in the Palos Verdes H. (G2) and Vernon O. Underwood S. (G3). The
chestnut retired with $1,470,915 in earnings from a 19-6-7-2 line.
Out of the multiple Canadian stakes-placed Delta Danielle (Lord Avie), the
10-year-old Our New Recruit stands for $3,500, live foal, at Legacy Ranch, Inc.
near Clements, California.
