A solid field of nine juvenile fillies will square off in Saturday’s $150,000
Arlington-Washington Lassie (G3), and we’ll cast our lot with TIZ MIZ SUE
(Tiznow), who exits a smashing 7 3/4-length maiden special weight victory over
the Polytrack. After missing by a nose in her career debut, the Steve Hobby
runner showed the kind of improvement we like to see last time, earning a
commendable 93 BRIS Speed rating for the wire-to-wire tally. Her BRIS E1 and E2
Pace numbers, 105 and 113, respectively, were sensational, and Tiz Miz Sue never
appeared to a take a deep breath in the stretch. We’ll tab her for another
wire-to-wire performance.

ATTEMPT TO NAME (Consolidator) will enter the Lassie off a strong win over
the track, taking a six-furlong maiden special weight by two lengths, and was
flattered when the third-place finisher, Superior Attitude (Tapit), won her next
start by 3 1/4 lengths last weekend. Trained by Helen Pitts-Blasi, the chestnut
filly figures to sit a good stalking trip off a solid pace, and she could have
something to say in the stretch beneath Inez Karlsson. Attempt to Name worries
us.

SHE BE WILD (Offlee Wild) is the 2-1 favorite on the morning line for Wayne
Catalano, and we can’t dismiss her from win consideration. However, the unbeaten
filly faced a questionable field last time in the Top Flight S. and looks
vulnerable to us in this spot. She hasn’t faced a challenge in the stretch in
either of her two starts, but that doesn’t figure to be the case on Saturday
with several promising new faces stepping up to face her. We’ll try to beat her
as she stretches out in distance.

SCREEN LEGEND (Tiznow) rallied for a narrow score when stretching out to a
mile last time at Arlington, netting a respectable 94 Speed figure for the
half-length triumph, and she appears to be making good progress for Tom Proctor.
We’ll use the late runner on the bottom of some exotics.

HIGHEST POWER (Stormy Atlantic) looked like a runner last time, blowing away
state-bred rivals at Louisiana Downs, but she’ll be seriously tested for class
in her synthetic bow. We’re inclined to just watch and see how she fares.
SUZANNE (Officer) is another invader without synthetic track experience, but her
Speed ratings are low and the late runner defeated a suspect group last time at
Monmouth.

DECEPTIVE GLORY (Honour and Glory) faltered at short odds in the Top Flight,
and we’re not excited about her chances against a much deeper field on Saturday.
GABBA GIRL (City Zip) and THATS WHATSHESAID (Lion Heart) probably both need an
easier spot to be competitive at this stage in their careers.
