Hip No. 107, a colt by Purge, brought a winning bid of $87,000 from Midwest
Thoroughbreds Inc. to top Monday’s Fasig-Tipton Texas Summer Yearlings Sale at
Lone Star Park. The Louisiana-bred was consigned by Inside Move, Inc., agent.

The March 29 chestnut was produced by the Saint Ballado mare Ballagren, who
is a full sister to 2003 Pennsylvania Derby (G3) third Ashmore. Ballagren is
also a half-sister to multiple stakes victress and Grade 3-placed Plaid (Deputy
Commander). The yearling’s second dam is multiple stakes winner Sapphire Beads
(Unreal Zeal).

David McKathan went to $65,000 to purchase a Macho Uno colt from the
consignment of Legacy Bloodstock, agent. Cataloged as Hip 10, the Kentucky-bred
is the first registered foal from the winning Antique Crystal (Devil His Due).
The April 6 bay hails from the family of Irish Group 1 queen Chelsea Rose
(Desert King) as well as French stakes winner and successful broodmare Charlotte
Amalie (Fr) (Gay Mecene). The colt was first sold for $50,000 at Fasig-Tipton
Kentucky July.

During the one-day sale, 185 yearlings were sold for $1,889,400, resulting in
an average of $10,213 and a $5,000 median. Last year, the sale was held over two
days, with 281 horses realizing a total of $3,369,700, recording an $11,992
average and a $4,500 median.
