Breeders’ Cup or Bust to begin at Keeneland

Last updated: 10/27/09 3:53 PM

On Wednesday, Keeneland will be the kick off venue for Breeders’ Cup or Bust,
a fundraising project created by Ray Paulick and Brad Cummings of The Paulick
Report
in which the two will travel to and wager at racetracks across the
country in an effort to raise money and awareness for the Permanently Disabled
Jockeys Fund and the V Foundation for Cancer Research. Breeders’ Cup is a
partner, as is TVG.

Following their kick-off at Keeneland, the cross-country fundraising tour
continues with stops at:

Hawthorne in Chicago on October 29; Remington Park in Oklahoma City on
November 1; Zia Park in Hobbs, New Mexico, on November 2; Turf Paradise in
Phoenix on November 3; a Las Vegas racebook on November 4; and Santa Anita Park
on November 6 and 7.

At Keeneland, festivities begin at 11:30 a.m. (EDT) when the Keeneland jockey
colony will be on hand to sign 2009 Breeders’ Cup hats. The hats will sell for
$15, with the proceeds going to the two designated charities.

Later in the day, Paulick will participate in a one-on-one handicapping
challenge with local radio personality Tom Leach, the voice of the Kentucky
Wildcats. Breeders’ Cup and TVG are providing each man with a $500 bankroll,
with the goal of increasing it throughout the day. The proceeds will benefit
both charities.

“We have been blessed with enough success to be able to give back to our
community,” Paulick said. “Not only will we have the opportunity to support our
own athletes, but we will be able to raise funds for one of the top cancer
research charities in the country. It’s important as an industry that we show
charitable leadership both inside and outside our community.”
