Last updated: 10/19/09 6:51 PM

Doncaster Bloodstock Sales host their three-day October Sale beginning
Tuesday, with the opening day devoted to yearlings before the horses-in-training
sessions are staged on Wednesday and Thursday.

Borderlescott (Compton Place), who cost just 13,000 guineas in 2003, recorded
back-to-back wins in this year’s Nunthorpe S. (Eng-G1), while the 1,500 guineas
bargain buy Amour Propre (Paris House) captured the latest renewal of the Palace
House S. (Eng-G3). Other graduates of note include the top-class Milk it Mick
(Millkom [GB]), Moorhouse Lad (Bertolini) and Electric Beat (Shinko Forest),
while the horses-in-training section saw Ashkal Way (Ire) (Ashkalani) bought for
20,000 guineas five years ago.

Of the 255 yearlings cataloged, lots to note include Llety Farms’ Hip No.
220, a full-sister to this year’s Windsor Castle S. runner-up Fratellino
(Auction House) and Hip 221, a half-brother to this year’s Ayr Gold Cup winner
Jimmy Styles (Inchinor [GB]) also by their resident stallion Auction House; Tara
Stud’s Exceed and Excel filly who is out of a half to this year’s National S.
(Ire-G1) winner Kingsfort (War Chant) and the top-class Prince Arch (Arch)
consigned as Hip 152, and Rockview Stables’ Hip 106, a son of leading
first-season sire Pastoral Pursuits whose half-brother is the triple
stakes-winning Appalachian Trail (Indian Ridge).

In the horses-in-training part, the 2007 Sirenia S. (Eng-G3) winner PHILARIO
(Captain Rio) is bound to attract attention consigned as Hip 407 by Spigot Lodge
Stables.

“The value-for-money October Yearling Sales has a longstanding reputation of
producing top-class horses, as highlighted this year by the success of
Borderlescott in the Nunthorpe S. and we are confident that this will continue,”
DBS Managing Director Henry Beeby said. “In addition, we have put together a
strong and varied assortment of Horses in Training that will suit all budgets
and expectations and we look forward to three lively days of trade at Doncaster
in October.”
